Marine

Ranks listed are the ideal for that position. An individual possessing one rank below the rank listed may hold that position in an 'acting' capacity until he or she is promoted or replaced.

Company Commander (MCC)

The Marine Company Commander is responsible for all the Marine personnel assigned to the ship/facility. S/he is in required to take command of any special ground operations and liaise such actions with security.

Platoon Commander (MPC)

The Platoon Commander is responsible for all the Marine personnel assigned to the ship/facility. S/he is in required to take command of any special ground operations and liaise such actions with security.

Officer: 1st Lieutenant (1LT)**

Squad Leader

Responsible for the welfare for all Marine NCO's under his/her command in that Squad. Required to lead and command the Squad in and out of Combat. Provide training for the Squad both physically and mentally. Maintain order and discipline. Reports to Aide-de-Camp, and Asst. Commander of the Marine Detachment.

Enlisted: Staff Sergeant (SSGT)*

Sergeant-At-Arms

Traditionally this post was an Officer position, this post however is now held by the highest rated NCO in the marine detachment. Assigned with coordinating the training and supervising this training within in each Squad.

Trooper

Sometimes referred to as the grunt. The backbone of the Marines, the field troops. Required to follow orders, and think on his/her feet if needed. Answers to the Asst. Squad Leader.

Trooper - Munitions Expert

A Marine Infantryman who has undergone additional training to specialise in a specific area. Explosives and hand weapons are the working tools of the Marines. The Munitions Expert is the person to ask when specialised applications are needed, in both identifying, and providing information on this subject. One per Platoon. Answers to the Asst. Squad Leader.

Trooper - Communications Expert

A Marine Infantryman who has undergone additional training to specialise in a specific area. In combat, or any form of away mission requiring a split up in the team, the Communications Expert must co-ordinate and maintain an accurate position reference for the leader of the away team. This individual is also responsible for passing out orders and commands to the away team if they are not in close contact. One per Platoon. Answers to the Asst. Squad Leader.
