Chief Science Officer (CSO)

The Chief Science Officer is responsible for leading and organising research conducted by the science department. The department studies new and emerging technologies and spatial phenomena.

The Chief Science Officer assigns commissioned and qualified non-commissioned Science Officers to one of four main sections based on their training, education, and specialisation, and appoints one Science Officer to be section head for each section. These sections generally are: Biological Sciences, Planetary Sciences, Social and Behavioural Sciences and Astrometric and Spacial Sciences. The Chief also typically focus on the ship or facilities primary mission operations.

Assistant Chief Science Officer (ACSO)

The Assistant Chief Science Officer assists the Chief in running and organising the Science department. The Assistant Chief Science Officer, when not needed for the ship or facilities primary mission operations, supervises the department's secondary mission operations, including ongoing duties, projects, and experiments.

Chief Scientist's Mate

The Chief Scientist's Mate supervises enlisted personnel, including their training and duty assignments, and routine maintenance and repairs.
